Once again, The Shop at Cororooke has assisted youngsters with their training for future careers. It is pleasing to announce that four amazing and skilled young people from our district are this year’s recipients of grants from the proceeds of sales at The Shop. Kati, Jorja, Lara and Thomas are young, exceptionally talented people and we are pleased to have assisted them in pursuance of their careers. Lara and Kati are studying at Transit Dance in Melbourne; Jorja attends Federation University in Ballarat where she is working toward a Bachelor of Music Theatre and Acting and Thomas has purchased a new trumpet as he is working, with his music, towards higher grades with the Australian Examination Board.
The Shop has been operating for four years, during which time we have assisted over 70 youngsters in their chosen field in the arts. We have assisted them in the purchase of instruments, lessons in music, ballet, acting, painting and materials. This has only been possible because of the wonderful and kind donations of clothing, bric-a-brac, books and other items from our friends in the district and further afield. It is also because of our wonderful customers who have stood by us over the years. Sometimes, people pop into The Shop, not always to buy something, but just to have a chat. We have met so many people since our opening. We thank you all.
On October 1st this year, at Stage Bistro, we will be staging a fashion parade featuring the once-loved clothes from The Shop. We know this is an early announcement, but you might wish to place this date in your calendar. Last year’s event was extremely successful. Tickets will be available at The Shop soon.
The Shop is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 11:00am until 3:00pm.
